Growing Up: Resisting Peer Pressure

My father would be so proud! I used to beg my parents to let me skip school to go see the Star Wars premiere or stay up late to go to the Spiderman premiere. I would get so upset if they wouldn’t let me because 20% of me wanted to see the new movie but 80% of me didn’t want to miss out on the social aspect of it. I didn’t want my friends to do anything fun without me. Plans have been going around for a few days to go buy tickets for the Indiana Jones premiere that is happening tomorrow at midnight (between Wed/Thurs) and I felt like a teenager again as I fought with myself about whether or not I should go. Seeing as I just forked out about $300 for wedding festivities for a couple friends of mine in San Diego this upcoming weekend, my more mature side was telling me that I should be frugal and not go to the movie but again, the kid side of me wanted to go to the movie to be with my friends. I was so proud because the responsible side actually won! I will now be sleeping and saving money at 12:01 May 22nd. Indy will just have to wait …

  1. I’m going to Indiana Jones tonight! 😀 I will let you know how it is! I can’t wait to see you this weekend!

  2. We watched the Indiana Jones Marathon on TV last week. Well, actually we taped it and watched one. I am excited for the new one but will probably wait for it to come on DVD. I hate movie theaters. Good choice to not see it. You need sleep and to save money. I have been listening to these parenting CDs about having responsible children. You are cool.
